homepage-photoJD Kennedy has served as Congressman McKeon’s District Representative specializing in Military and Veterans’ Affairs where he performs Veterans’ Outreach and promotes the Military Academies to high school students, ROTC Cadets and all other eligible applicants for the past 4 years. He earned his Associates and Bachelors degrees at College of the Canyons and Brandman University where he majored in Social Sciences with the focus on history, government and criminal justice.

JD was born in Lafayette, IN and grew up in the small town of West Point. At the age of 13, he started working in the kitchen at his aunt and uncle’s tavern so he could help pay the bills at home while his mother was recovering from a near fatal traffic accident. By the age of 16, he began working at a car wash and added a paper route to his schedule while he maintained outstanding marks at school. In the first semester of his senior year, JD moved into an apartment of his own while maintaining a full school schedule and working full time at the local grocery store.

JD enlisted into the Marine Corps later in his senior year and reported for recruit training shortly after high school graduation. After Recruit Training at MCRD, San Diego, and Occupational Training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, he was stationed in Camp Lejeune. JD was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) I and was deployed a second time during OIF II. He was honorably discharged from Camp Lejeune in 2005 and moved to Santa Clarita where he began studying business management at DeVry University. JD was reactivated from the Individual Ready Reserve in 2007, and made his third deployment to Iraq from Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon his return, JD moved back to Santa Clarita and enrolled at College of the Canyons. He began interning for Congressman McKeon in December, 2009 when his interest in politics and community service was sparked from needing the very constituent services he has provided for the past 4 years.

JD is currently Commander of the American Legion Post 507, President of LA County Air Show and a member of the AV Boys and Girls Club board. He fell in love with his fiancé, Chantal, while they were raising funds for a Habitat for Heroes Veterans housing project. Chantal has volunteered with family enhancement programs, athletic organizations, military foundations, young women’s scholarship programs, youth projects, domestic violence relief organizations, and veteran non-profit groups. JD and Chantal plan to be married this fall.
